When groups are effective, achieving their aims and inspiring people to achieve more of their potential, they have found a way to relate and work together. A new more complex level of organisation emerges – a coherent whole or synergy. This is the specialness of inspirational teams and magical moments in groups where the ability and effectiveness of the group is lifted beyond what the individuals alone can active.
During this workshop, I’ll introduce my research about synergies, we’ll reflect upon our experiences of groups and their facilitation and explore the following questions:
- What makes some groups effective whilst others fail to realise their aims?
- How are the needs of the individual balanced with those of the collective?
- How does a cooperative culture develop?
- Can this heightened functionality be facilitated?
The workshop will be of interest to you if you are a facilitator, tutor, manager, community leader, teacher, social worker – or if you work with groups and are curious about your widely different experiences.
Cost: Sliding scale £30 (Benefits/low incomes) to £80 (high income/employer sponsored)/employer sponsored)
